EDINBURG, Texas — A 19-year-old Edinburg man died Tuesday morning in a four-vehicle crash north of Edinburg, leaving his family, friends and community grieving, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 10th and Chapin streets. DPS said a Ford Escape carrying a woman and a male child had stopped at a stop sign on Chapin Road, then entered the intersection and failed to yield to Dongjun Kim, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle north on 10th Street. The impact sent the Ford into a GMC Canyon that had stopped at the stop sign, and the GMC struck a Cadillac XT5 stopped behind it.
Kim was wearing a helmet, protective jacket and gloves and died at the hospital. Four people in the Ford and the GMC were hospitalized with injuries that aren't life-threatening. The Cadillac's driver wasn't reported hurt, and DPS said troopers continue to investigate.
At just 19, Dongjun had his whole life ahead of him, with mornings still to wake up to and dreams waiting to be realized. May his family and friends find strength in their grief, and may his memory remain a blessing.
