Paul Roger Neal, 69, of Columbia, Virginia, has died following a serious two-vehicle crash on West Broad Street in Henrico County.
The crash happened around 4:50 a.m. on September 11 in the 7800 block of West Broad Street in Henrico's Brookland Magisterial District. Police responded after a Lexus sedan and a Toyota pickup collided.
According to Henrico Police, the driver of the Lexus was attempting to turn right into a parking lot when Neal's Toyota pickup struck the vehicle from behind.
Neal suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators were informed on September 14 that he had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police said Neal was issued a summons for following too closely. Investigators also said preliminary findings suggest failure to wear a seat belt may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.
The investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the collision to contact Henrico Police.
For Neal's family, friends, and community, his death marks a painful loss following a crash whose consequences unfolded over several days.
