WOODSTOCK, Ga. — A 38-year-old Roswell man was shot by Woodstock police officers Thursday evening in downtown Woodstock, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Officers responded around 6:48 p.m. to a suspicious person call near Paden Street and Maple Street, where they found Nijm Scott in a retention pond. Authorities say Scott allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who approached him and said he was going to start shooting.
The GBI reports that after Scott made a sudden movement, officers fired their weapons and struck him. Officers pulled him from the pond, and Woodstock and Cherokee County firefighters provided medical aid before he was taken to a hospital. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Two officers also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a hospital. The circumstances of those injuries have not been disclosed.
The GBI is continuing to investigate. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
