Left Turn Ends in Heartbreak on U.S. 52: Donita Bessent Killed in Anderson Township Crash That Left Couple Seriously Hurt

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A woman died after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 52 late Saturday, leaving her family, friends and community grieving, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Traffic Safety Unit responded just after 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to U.S. 52 near Eight Mile Road. Investigators said Donita Bessent was driving a 2025 Honda CR-V and turning left from Eight Mile Road onto westbound U.S. 52 when she failed to yield. A westbound 2012 Kia, driven by 39-year-old Jerry Ncelhamey, struck the Honda on the driver's side.
Bessent was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she died. Ncelhamey and his wife, Stacy, a passenger in the Kia, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. An Air Care helicopter was requested and then called off, and U.S. 52 was closed for hours.
Investigators said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors, and the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been announced.
An ordinary Saturday night became a loss that a family will carry for a long time. May those who loved Bessent find strength in the days ahead, and may the couple injured in the crash recover fully.
