Langdon Udry, 17, lost his life following a crash in Colerain Township, Ohio, leaving his family, classmates, and community facing the sudden loss of a young life.
Colerain Township police responded to the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Creekview Drive around 8:40 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a crash involving a motorized bicycle and a pickup truck.
According to the crash report, Udry was riding west on Harrison Avenue when a Chevrolet Colorado traveling in the same direction turned southwest onto Creekview Drive and struck him. Police said the roadway was dark and not illuminated at the time of the collision.
Udry suffered critical injuries and was transported by Colerain EMS to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He died from his injuries on Tuesday, according to police and the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.
The crash report states Udry was wearing a helmet. Police described the motorized bicycle as non-roadworthy and said it had no headlights. Those details form part of the police crash report and remain subject to the ongoing investigation.
The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges had been filed against the driver as of September 16, according to local reporting.
Udry was a senior at Colerain High School. The Northwest Local School District has been working with his family and providing support for students affected by his death.
The Colerain Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the crash and has asked anyone with information to contact investigators.
