UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. — A 35-year-old woman died Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 26 in Unicoi County, leaving her family, friends and community grieving, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
THP said Katie Willis was driving a Honda Pilot east in the right lane near mile marker 45. A Kenworth tractor-trailer ahead of her was traveling slowly because of the uphill grade. As the Honda approached, it did not slow down or move to the left lane, and it struck the rear of the truck. Willis was killed in the crash. The truck's driver was not hurt.
At just 35, Willis had so much life ahead of her, with tomorrows that will now remain unwritten. Behind her name is a person whose life mattered, and loved ones now facing the unimaginable pain of losing her. May her memory remain a gentle light in the hearts of everyone who knew her, and may her family find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
