PENN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 62-year-old London man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Highland County, leaving his family, friends and community grieving, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Troopers from the Wilmington Post responded at about 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to New Vienna Road near Gist Settlement Road. OSHP said Jeffrey Harris was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup west when it went off the left side of the road and struck a telephone box. The truck crossed back over the road, went off the right side, hit a ditch and came to rest in a cut soybean field.
Clinton-Highland Joint Fire Department crews pronounced Harris dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger in the truck was not hurt. The Highland County Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office assisted, and the crash remains under investigation.
An ordinary Saturday afternoon became a day of heartbreak for those who loved him. Behind his name is a life that mattered, with memories that will remain precious. May his family find strength and comfort in the days ahead, and may his memory be honored with dignity and love.
