ATTICA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 34-year-old Flint truck driver died Tuesday morning in a rollover crash on Interstate 69 in Lapeer County, leaving his family, friends and community grieving, according to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened at 9:46 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, on eastbound I-69, east of Lake Pleasant Road in Attica Township. Deputies said Tyler Zellar was driving a semi-tractor in the right lane when it suddenly crossed the left lane and overturned in the grassy median. The truck was hauling large boulders from a Lapeer job site to Columbus, Michigan, and they were thrown across both the eastbound and westbound lanes. Zellar died at the scene.
Investigators said impairment was not a contributing factor, and no motorist was injured by the boulders. Crews responded to a fuel leak, and traffic in both directions was detoured onto the Lake Pleasant Road ramps until the scene was cleared around 3 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.
At just 34, Zellar had so much life ahead of him. His journey ended far too soon, leaving behind questions, sorrow and an absence that time alone cannot erase. May his memory remain a light in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and may his family find strength in their darkest hours and comfort in the love around them.
