NEW BALTIMORE, N.Y. — A 50-year-old Coxsackie woman died after a head-on crash with a commercial box truck Wednesday morning, leaving her family, friends and community grieving, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded around 10:26 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, to the intersection of County Route 51 and State Route 9W. A preliminary investigation found that Lenore M. Nevins was driving a 2023 Nissan Altima on County Route 51 at a high rate of speed. While turning left onto 9W to go north, the Altima entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound 2016 Hino box truck.
Nevins was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition and later died. The truck's driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Route 9W was closed for several hours. State Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to contact the Catskill Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.
Behind this heartbreaking news is a human life filled with moments, memories and a story that deserved many more chapters. For those who knew and loved Nevins, the road ahead may feel impossibly difficult, but the memories she created and the place she held in their lives will always remain meaningful. May her memory be a gentle light in the darkness of grief, and may everyone mourning her find strength, comfort and healing in the days ahead.
