DAHLONEGA, Ga. — A 41-year-old Dahlonega motorcyclist died Saturday in a crash on GA 52 just west of Dahlonega, and a Braselton man was arrested, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers responded just before 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, to the area of GA 52 and Auraria Road. GSP said James Fondren IV, 50, of Braselton, was driving a 2019 Toyota 4Runner north on GA 52 and attempting to turn left onto Auraria Road when he turned into the path of a 2003 Triumph motorcycle. The motorcycle, ridden south by John Thomas Agans, struck the right side of the Toyota near the B pillar.
Agans was taken to NGMC-Lumpkin, where he died of his injuries. Fondren had minor injuries and was evaluated by EMS at the scene.
Fondren was arrested at the scene and charged with failure to yield, driving under the influence, and first-degree homicide by vehicle. Charges are allegations, and the investigation is ongoing.
