LOVE COUNTY, Okla. โ€” Three people were killed and one was injured in a crash involving two semi-trucks on southbound Interstate 35 Friday night, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened just before 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, near mile marker 12 in Love County, close to the weigh station in Marietta. Investigators said a southbound semi driven by 79-year-old Donald Freeman struck a second semi that was stopped on the outside shoulder.
Two service workers were underneath the parked semi's trailer performing maintenance when it was hit. One of them, 37-year-old John Gravelle of Ardmore, died. A second worker also died, and troopers have not released that person's name. OHP said Freeman also died in the crash.
The driver of the parked semi, 49-year-old Prince Nnaji, was injured.
The crash scattered pallets of meat from the trailer across the highway and shut down southbound I-35 for hours. The interstate reopened around 7 a.m. Saturday.
