💔 Hector L. Cotto Jr. is being remembered after a tragic boat accident at Buyé Beach in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, turned a joyful family wedding trip into a devastating loss.
According to a family fundraising campaign, Hector had not returned to Puerto Rico in 43 years. His trip was meant to be a special opportunity to reconnect with family and celebrate a wedding.
Instead, tragedy struck while the family was at Buyé Beach.
Hector suffered severe injuries in a boat accident and later died, leaving his wife, children, stepchildren, relatives, and friends devastated.
His loved ones describe him as a caring and loving man whose calm presence made people feel safe. They remember his smile, his voice, his sense of humor, and the happiness he brought to those around him.
His death has also created an urgent practical challenge for the family. Hector's loved ones are working to bring his remains back to Brooklyn, New York, while also covering funeral, wake, transportation, and other related expenses.
A family fundraiser has been established to help with those costs. The campaign says the family wants to bring Hector home and give him the dignified farewell he deserves.
What was supposed to be a joyful family trip became a memory marked by unimaginable grief.
🌹 Hector L. Cotto Jr. will be remembered for the love, laughter, stability, and warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
