LINCOLN, Del. — A 19-year-old Ellendale man died Thursday from injuries in a crash at a Lincoln intersection, leaving his family, friends and community grieving, according to the Delaware State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Dupont Boulevard (Route 113) and Johnson Road. Zyadon Briddell was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier west on Johnson Road when a Ford F-150 traveling north on Dupont Boulevard failed to stop at the red light. The front of the pickup struck the driver's side of the Cavalier, according to the preliminary investigation.
Briddell was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died Thursday, Oct. 29. State police identified him Saturday. The F-150's driver, a 22-year-old Georgetown man, was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening. The roadway was closed for an extended time. No charges had been announced, and the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate. Anyone with information or video of the crash is asked to call Master Cpl. K. Argo at 302-703-3264.
At just 19, Briddell had so much life ahead of him. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly an ordinary evening can change everything. May his family and friends find strength and comfort in the days ahead, and may his memory be honored with love.
