Father and Daughter Killed After Facebook Marketplace PlayStation Meetup

A father and his teenage daughter lost their lives after what was supposed to be a simple Facebook Marketplace purchase ended in tragedy in Mississippi.

Victor Gonzalez, 39, and his 19-year-old daughter, Serenity Gonzalez, traveled from the Memphis area to meet a person who had reportedly listed a PlayStation 5 for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

On the morning of March 1, 2026, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle off the road along River Road in Panola County. When they arrived, they found Victor and Serenity inside the vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. (CRBC News)

Family members told local media that the pair had left home to complete the PlayStation purchase. Victor’s son and Serenity’s brother said the family believed something went wrong during the transaction.

Investigators are treating the deaths as a double homicide. Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or confirmed the exact circumstances leading to the shooting.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the case to contact CrimeStoppers of Panola County at 662-209-2011. (CRBC News)

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine who was responsible and what happened during the planned marketplace meeting.
