Elizabeth Jessup, 50, of Hopkinsville, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Russellville Road late Tuesday night.
The crash happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on September 15 in the 2000 block of Russellville Road near Airport Road. Hopkinsville Fire and EMS crews responded after receiving reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.
When emergency responders arrived, Jessup was found unresponsive in the roadway. Firefighters and EMS personnel immediately began CPR before transporting her to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. She was later pronounced dead.
The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Local reporting states the driver involved has been charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of a substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
