David McAdams, 55, and Dovie Maye Niten, 54, lost their lives Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Spring Road in Patrick County, Virginia.
According to Virginia State Police, the collision occurred around 6:20 p.m. near Foxtrot Lane. McAdams was driving a 2004 Kia Spectra southbound on Spring Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2007 Ford pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.
McAdams and Niten, who was a passenger in the Kia, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford pickup survived but suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment. Police have not released the person's identity.
The crash remains under investigation as Virginia State Police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision and what caused the Kia to cross the center line.
The deaths have left families, friends, and the Ararat community mourning the sudden loss of two local residents.
An obituary for Dovie Mae McAdams confirms she was 54 and identifies David McAdams as her husband. Her funeral service is scheduled for September 18, followed by burial at Lawson Family Cemetery in Woolwine, Virginia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
