A Minnesota encounter involving an immigration agent has resulted in federal charges against a young couple.
Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, 24, and his girlfriend, Rekeya Lionesha Lee Frazier, 23, are facing federal charges following an incident involving an immigration agent.
According to prosecutors, the encounter began when a federal immigration agent approached Bamigboye over an alleged student-visa overstay.
Authorities allege that the situation escalated when Frazier drove away while the federal agent was still inside the vehicle. Prosecutors say the agent became concerned because he did not know where the vehicle was taking him and feared that he was being abducted.
Bamigboye allegedly fled the scene on foot during the incident.
Prosecutors have characterized the alleged conduct as involving the kidnapping or obstruction of a federal officer.
Both Bamigboye and Frazier have pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on bond.
The case remains pending, and the allegations against both defendants have not been proven in court.
For now, the incident has raised questions about what happened during the encounter and how the confrontation escalated into a federal criminal case.
And as Nigerians might jokingly put it, this one was definitely not the time to be acting out a “Fast & Furious” scene. 😅
