FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A 31-year-old woman was killed and six other people were wounded in a shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at Solano Town Center on Friday night, the eve of Halloween, leaving families and the community grieving, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to reports of gunfire at the store. They found seven people shot. Police identified the woman who died as Constance Hages, 31. Her family told investigators she was pregnant and a mother of four. Police said the pregnancy has not yet been confirmed, and authorities said the Solano County Coroner would confirm it.
The six wounded victims were taken to hospitals. Police said three were in critical condition, a fourth was in critical but stable condition, and two others were treated and released.
Police believe the shooting was a targeted incident involving one suspect inside the store. They haven't named a suspect or said who the intended target was, and no arrests had been announced. The FBI's Sacramento office sent its Evidence Response Team to assist, and Spirit Halloween said the store would remain closed while the investigation continues. The mall canceled its planned Mall-O-Ween trick-or-treating event for Saturday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfield police at 707-428-7600 or email 1030mall@fairfield.ca.gov.
For Hages' family, the loss is immeasurable, and the six wounded victims and their loved ones are left coping with the aftermath. May everyone affected find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
