In loving memory of Bruce Runels, 61, whose life was tragically cut short after he was struck by a vehicle in Midland, Texas.
Midland Police and Midland Fire Department responded to the 400 block of East Front Street at approximately 6:56 a.m. on September 9 following a report of a pedestrian crash.
According to police, a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Front Street while Runels was walking northbound and attempting to cross the roadway at a location without a marked crosswalk.
Authorities said Runels entered the path of the Honda and was struck in the roadway. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Police have not released additional details about the incident.
Runels' death has left a painful loss for those who knew him. What began as an ordinary Wednesday morning ended with a life suddenly taken and a family and community left to mourn.
Bruce Runels will be remembered by those whose lives he touched as they come to terms with his unexpected passing.
