On the Democratic side, Harris continues to show strong early support in several polls. A recent Texas poll, for example, placed her at 28.4%, ahead of Pete Buttigieg, Jon Ossoff, Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The Republican picture is somewhat more competitive. In that same Texas survey, Marco Rubio narrowly led JD Vance, 29.5% to 28.8%, with Ron DeSantis further behind. Other national and state-level polling has shown Vance performing strongly among potential Republican voters.
Vance is also receiving attention from conservative organizations preparing for the next presidential cycle. Turning Point Action, for example, is building grassroots infrastructure ahead of the 2028 Republican primary and has indicated that Vance could be a major figure in the contest.
However, these numbers should be viewed as very early snapshots rather than predictions. Neither party has formally selected its nominee, and candidate decisions, the 2026 midterms, economic conditions and major political events could dramatically reshape the field.
