A Thursday morning shooting inside a Gaston County home left two women dead and two others critically injured, according to authorities.
Gaston County Police responded to 2661 Forbes Road at approximately 8:43 a.m. on September 10, 2026, after receiving a report of a shooting inside the residence. Officers arrived to find four people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Victoria “Heather” Moore, 50, and Megan “Josiah” Bumgardner, 38, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two surviving victims were transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and were reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Investigators identified 26-year-old Camryn Moore and 29-year-old Cory Armstrong as suspects. Both were residents of the Forbes Road home, according to police.
Authorities obtained warrants charging both suspects with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Investigators said the pair fled the residence following the shooting and left Gaston County.
The search ended the following morning in Ohio. The Ohio State Highway Patrol located the suspects' vehicle near Athens and attempted to stop it. Police said the suspects led officers on a multi-county pursuit before their vehicle crashed while attempting to avoid spike strips.
Following the crash, officers reported hearing two gunshots. A drone was later used to observe the vehicle, where both suspects were found dead. The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation by Ohio authorities.
A motive for the Gaston County shooting has not been publicly established. Investigators continue working to determine what led to the violence inside the home.
Friends of the victims have since spoken about the devastating impact of the shooting, describing Heather Moore as someone who brought warmth and love to the people around her. Her daughter, Camryn Moore, was identified by police as one of the suspects in the case.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and the subsequent deaths in Ohio.
