President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again left Nigeria for a three-week vacation in Europe, according to reports.
The trip comes at a time when millions of Nigerians continue to struggle with the rising cost of food and transportation, insecurity and limited access to essential services.
The development has attracted criticism from opponents who argue that the President should remain focused on addressing the country's pressing challenges.
Reports claim that government expenditure on presidential trips and related travel expenses between June 2023 and April 2026 reached approximately ₦37.64 billion, with Tinubu reportedly spending about 261 days outside Nigeria during the period.
The criticism has also focused on funding for healthcare and other essential sectors. One claim circulating is that only ₦36 million was released to the Federal Ministry of Health in 2025 despite a reported capital allocation of ₦218 billion. These figures should be independently verified before being presented as established fact.
The reported abduction of hundreds of Nigerians in Niger State has further intensified concerns about security. According to reports cited in the statement, approximately 600 people, predominantly women, children and elderly residents, were abducted during Juma’at prayers.
Critics say the situation highlights the need for stronger leadership and greater attention to domestic challenges.
The statement also argues that Nigeria's leaders should promote domestic tourism by travelling to destinations across the country, including Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Cross River, Bauchi and Ebonyi.
Domestic tourism has the potential to support hotels, restaurants, transportation, agriculture, entertainment, crafts and other local businesses while encouraging Nigerians to explore the country's diverse cultural and natural attractions.
The message ultimately calls for leadership that prioritizes Nigeria and its citizens, while promoting the political partnership between Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the author of the statement.
