A teenage girl died at the Kendal Calling festival in the early hours of the morning, police have said.
The 17-year-old suffered a medical episode at about 02:15 BST and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cumbria Police. The force asked people not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.
It added officers were looking into the circumstances and wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Calling Out tent and the Big Wheel around the time of the girl's death.
A spokesperson said: "Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare."
They said the girl's family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
The force asked people not to speculate, saying it could have a "significant impact" on the family and friends involved.
"We would ask that the investigation be allowed to take its course."
