With hearts heavy with sorrow, we pause to remember Roy Day, 68, of Hurricane, and Alison Ross, 58, of Nitro, whose lives were tragically taken in a devastating four-vehicle crash on the Dunbar Toll Bridge on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., an ordinary afternoon turned into a moment of heartbreak as the crash unfolded on the bridge.
The collision involved four vehicles and left two people dead. Emergency crews responded to the scene as authorities worked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Roy Day, 68, was from Hurricane, while Alison Ross, 58, was from Nitro. Their deaths have left families, friends and loved ones facing an unimaginable loss.
The Dunbar Toll Bridge serves as an important connection for drivers in the area, making the crash especially distressing for those who travel the route regularly.
Authorities continue to investigate what led to the four-vehicle collision and the events immediately before the crash.
For the families of Roy and Alison, the investigation does little to ease the pain of losing their loved ones so suddenly.
Their lives ended in a moment, but the memories they created with the people around them will remain.
