A woman in China was sentenced to three years in prison for abducting a 10-month-old baby boy 35 years ago from the family who employed her as their maid.
The woman, identified by her surname Wang, confessed in court that she took the boy after being diagnosed with infertility, driven by her desire to become a mother, as reported by the Beijing News.
In early 1990, Wang, a 24-year-old migrant worker in Beijing, was hired by the Sun family to care for their infant.
On March 7, 1990, she vanished with the baby, prompting the parents to embark on a long and arduous journey to find their son.
Over the past three decades, the parents travelled throughout China whenever they received a potential lead regarding their son’s whereabouts.
However, due to the technological limitations of past decades, both law enforcement and the Sun couple were unsuccessful in locating the boy.
