The Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and ammunition in Ibadan, the state capital.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
Ayanlade said the suspects, who allegedly operated from a hideout in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan, were arrested by operatives of the command’s Monitoring Unit acting on credible intelligence.
According to him, the suspects were identified as Tomiwa Ayomide, 28; Haruna Kabiru, 32; and Haruna Hassan, also known as “Malo”, 32.
He added that a search of the hideout led to the recovery of one single-barrel, locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges.
Ayanlade said the suspects remained in police custody while investigations continued to determine their involvement in other criminal activities and to identify and apprehend possible accomplices.

The statement read, “The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained efforts to rid the state of violent crimes with the arrest of three suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.
“Acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected armed robbers operating from a hideout within the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan, operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit conducted a coordinated raid on the identified apartment in the early hours of the day.
“During the operation, three suspects identified as Tomiwa Ayomide (28 years), Haruna Kabiru (32 years), and Haruna Hassan alias ‘Malo’ (32 years) were arrested.
“A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges.
“The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other criminal activities and to apprehend possible accomplices.”
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime across the state.
