A Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Shira/Giade Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Zaraddeen Aminu, has flagged off the construction of a two-kilometre road in Zirami, Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The candidate said the project demonstrated his governance commitment to delivering development even before assuming public office, promising to complete the road and expand similar interventions across the constituency if elected.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony on Tuesday, Aminu said the PDP had a long-standing reputation for executing developmental projects, insisting that infrastructure delivery remained one of the party’s defining attributes.
“What I want to emphasise to our people in Shira and Giade is that the PDP is known for projects like this. I will be surprised if people see it as something new. Whoever has witnessed developmental projects in this country knows the PDP largely executed them,” he said.
Then politician described the road project as a welcome development for the community and pledged to push for its extension beyond the initial two kilometres.
“I assure our people that if we are elected, we will continue to remind our governor-to-be on the need to extend this project beyond the 2km.
“Our representation will not be driven by selfish interests but by the desire to improve on what we have already started and introduce more initiatives that will benefit our people,” he added.
While commenting on the political climate, the House of Reps candidate maintained that the PDP would campaign based on its record of performance rather than promises.

“In this political season, the PDP is ready to contest based on already established projects, not storytelling. We will continue to strategically implement projects in communities that need them across Bauchi State. I can assure you that more are on the way to areas where we have received requests,” Aminu said.
While explaining why the project commenced in Zirami, he pointed out, “We chose to start this work here because, as they say, charity begins at home. This is my hometown, and I have to start by setting an example.”
Also speaking, the PDP governorship candidate, Usman Sufi, commended Aminu for embarking on what he described as a multimillion-naira project despite not holding any public office.
He said the initiative reflected the HoR candidate’s commitment to community development and expressed confidence that he would deliver even more if elected.
“We don’t have enough words to appreciate him. This is a testament that he is a true son of the soil. If he can do this without holding any government office, imagine what he will achieve when elected. He will certainly do much more,” Sufi assured the people.
The governorship candidate urged residents of the constituency to support the PDP during the forthcoming elections, stressing that the party remained committed to delivering dividends of democracy.
He also prayed for sustained peace in the constituency, Bauchi State and the country at large.
