Real Madrid have received positive news on Endrick, with José Mourinho confirming that the Brazilian forward is getting closer to a return.
Endrick has missed the start of the season through injury, but Mourinho revealed during his latest press conference that the 20-year-old is now the closest of Real Madrid’s injured players to making his comeback.
“Endrick is close,” Mourinho said. “Out of everyone, he is the closest to returning.”
The Portuguese coach refused to guarantee Endrick’s return against Real Betis, but admitted the forward has a chance of being available for the match.
“He could be ready for Betis or maybe for the first Champions match,” Mourinho explained.
The update will come as a major boost for Real Madrid, who have started the campaign without one of their attacking options. Endrick is highly rated at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Mourinho has already made it clear that he wants the Brazilian to remain part of his plans this season.
Mourinho is taking a different approach with Aurélien Tchouaméni.
The French midfielder is also recovering from injury, but the Real Madrid manager does not want to rush him back before he reaches full fitness.
Mourinho explained that he does not want Tchouaméni to return too early, only to suffer another setback.
“I prefer to wait a little and have Tchouaméni in good shape,” Mourinho said, while stressing how important the midfielder is to his team.
Tchouaméni’s situation is therefore being handled carefully. Mourinho wants the midfielder fully ready rather than risking a return before he is physically prepared.
For Real Madrid, the possibility of having Endrick back soon is encouraging. The Brazilian could return against Betis, although Mourinho’s comments suggest the club will make a final decision based on his condition.
Tchouaméni, meanwhile, will have to wait a little longer.
With the season already underway and Champions League football approaching, Mourinho will want both players back at full strength rather than risk further injury.
For now, Endrick is the closest to a comeback, while Tchouaméni remains on a more cautious recovery plan.
