🥹🖤💛 MARCO REUS: LOYALTY OVER MONEY, TROPHIES AND GLORY

In 2012, Bayern Munich wanted Marco Reus, with manager Jupp Heynckes reportedly even inviting him to his home to convince him to make the move. Joining Bayern could have meant multiple Bundesliga titles, Champions League opportunities and potentially even Trebles.

Instead, Reus chose Borussia Dortmund — the club where he had developed as a youngster and ultimately returned to after his breakthrough at Borussia Mönchengladbach. 🖤💛

Then in 2014, Paris Saint-Germain reportedly showed serious interest. Reus was said to have connections with Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s son, who regularly played FIFA with him, while PSG were reportedly prepared to offer him a salary several times higher than what he earned at Dortmund. Reus still stayed. 😳💰❌

In 2018, Manchester City were also reportedly interested, with reports claiming a potential salary of around €23 million per year. A move to Pep Guardiola’s City could have offered Reus another route to Premier League and European glory.

Yet again, he remained in Dortmund. 🥹🖤💛

Reus’ career was heavily affected by injuries, and those setbacks undoubtedly cost him valuable playing time and opportunities to compete for more trophies.

His Dortmund legacy, however, goes far beyond his trophy cabinet.

Marco Reus for Dortmund:
🏟️ 429 appearances
🚀 170 goals
🎯 131 assists
🏆 2× DFB-Pokal
🏆 3× German Super Cup
🥇 2× German Footballer of the Year

He didn’t collect every major trophy available to him. He didn’t maximize his earning potential.

But he gave Borussia Dortmund something money can’t buy: loyalty, identity and unforgettable memories.

For generations of Dortmund supporters, Marco Reus isn’t simply remembered as a player who stayed.

He’s remembered as a Dortmund legend. 🥹🖤💛
