It's day two of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Australian Dolphin swim team will look to add more medals to their gold tally.
Gymnast Georgia Godwin, a two-time gold medallist at Birmingham 2022, will compete in the women's team final and individual qualification while the Diamonds take on Tonga in the first of their group games.

Australia wins heat of mixed 4x100m freestyle relay
Kai Taylor had Australia second at the 50, and the team were second at the first handover to Harrison Turner.
The Aussies were 0.39 behind at the handover, but Turner closed the gap and handed over to Hannah Casey just 0.05 down on England.
Casey quickly shifted in front of England's Abbie Wood, and extended to a body length before handing over to Alex Perkins.
She was in fine form, and was never threatened - she extended the lead further, coming in to touch in 3:24.83 from England, with Wales in third.
Great effort from the Aussies!

Time for the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay heats

It's time for the final event on the morning session, the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay heats.
Australia will be in heat two, along with England.
The Dolphins line-up is: Kai Turner, Harrison Taylor, Hannah Casey and Alex Perkins.
The Aussies are frontloading their race with the men's legs, before Casey and Perkins bring it home.

Diamonds soooo close to cracking triple digits!

Holy smokes, what a game — the Diamonds pumped out plenty of quick goals in the final few minutes, scoring a total juuuuust shy of 100.
With an end result of 99-38, the Aussie netballers will be stoked with their first win of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
It's not often you see triple digits in international competitions, but if any team is going to get close, it's the green and gold!
Our gals will return to the court tomorrow, when they play England on day three — and that'll be the 50th Commonwealth Games match the Diamonds have ever played.

Update from the bowling green

(Getty Images)Guernsey is looking cosy on the top of Section A in the women's pairs, which doesn't bode well for Aussies Dawn Hayman and Kelsey Cottrell.
Each team plays a total of six matches at the Games, with the top team from each of the four sections progressing to the semi-finals on Monday.
With half their matches played, the Aussies currently sit third in their section with two wins and a loss.
Guernsey have three wins from three (including over the Aussies) and a whopping for and against of 35 shots.
That's definitely helped along by their earlier game this evening where they didn't let Zambia trouble the scorer at all. It finished 8-0, 10-0.
Earlier, Singapore defeated Niue to win in straight sets 12-4 and 11-2.
The Aussies take on fourth-placed Singapore at 2.50am AEST and it's important they get a result.

England's William Ellard beats Australia's Jack Ireland in the ranking race for the men's 200m free S14

In the men's event for the men's 200m freestyle S14, England's Will Ellard has broken the Commonwealth Games record!
Ellard took charge from the start, and went away to win in 1:53.52, ahead of Australia's Jack Ireland (1:56.33).
Ellard will be in lane four for the final, with Ireland in lane five.

Madeleine McTernan fourth in the ranking race for the women's 200m freestyle S14

Australia's Madeleine McTernan has been in action in the women's 200m freestyle event for S14 class.
She came fourth in the single heat, in a time of 2:11.20.
She was sixth at the 50, fifth at the 100, and came home to finish fourth.

50 points separating the netball sides!

The Tala have scored 33 goals, with Uneeq Palavi just sinking her 24th of the match so far.
The score is 88-33 in favour of the green and gold.
We're into the final 10 minutes now, and I'm feeling quietly confident Australia's got this one in the bag!

Sam Short in action in the men's 400m freestyle

And he is off to the races early!
Short is kicking clear of his rivals. He's not going to break any records here, but he's in control.
Short has eased off a bit in the second half, but he's looking good here. He leads by well over a second from Northern Ireland's Jack McMillan.
He finishes well, and touches the wall in 3:46.23 with England's James Guy in second.
Short is the fastest qualifier, ahead of teammate Ben Goedemans, with Northern Ireland's Daniel Wiffen third and Elijah Winnington fourth.
Short will go in as favourite into tomorrow morning's final at 4:07am AEST.

Ben Goedemans beats Daniel Wiffen and Elijah Winnington in men's 400m free heats

We're at halfway of the second-last heat of the men's 400m freestyle.
Australia's Elijah Winnington has gone out to the front from the start with Northern Ireland's Daniel Wiffen in second and Australia's Ben Goedemans in third.
Winnington was still leading at the 300, but Wiffen went ahead in the second-last leg.
And an interesting finish! Ben Goedemans came through in the final 50 to win the heat in 3:46.47, ahead of Wiffen in 3:47.01 and Winnington third in 3:47.85.

Aussie netballers too quick for Tongan plays

With just one quarter to go in the AUS-TGA match, the Diamonds are looking likely to take the win.
The Aussies have pulled ahead on the scoreboard, in part thanks to the team's ability to read and intercept Tonga's plays.
So far this game, Australia has secured 83 per cent of all interceptions.
We've also deflected more shots than the Tala, while there's a reasonably even split between the sides in terms of obstructions and contact penalties.
Buckle in for the fourth and final quarter, folks!

Spirits are high at the netball

During the half-time break, WD Jamie-Lee Price told media she's really excited to be playing in her first ever Commonwealth Games.
Uneeq Palavi, who is playing for Tonga tonight but usually represents Melbourne on the netball court, says her side knows how tough this debut match will be.
"The Diamonds, they're like number one, world-class, but I feel like this is the time to just go for it because we've got nothing to lose," Palavi said during the break.
The teams are back on the court now, let's see if the Diamonds can maintain their lead — the score is currently 65-25.

Tara Kinder makes it three Aussies through in women's 100m breaststroke

The final heat of the women's 100m breaststroke brought some good news for the host nation, with Angharad Evans winning the heat in a time of 1:06.34.
She sets the fastest time. Australia's Tara Kinder finished fourth in a time of 1:08.46, that's enough to see her go through to the semifinals alongside Ella Ramsay and Sienna Toohey.

Ella Ramsay, Sienna Toohey going through in women's 100m breaststroke

The cavalcade of Aussie swimmers continues in the women's 100m breaststroke heats.
In heat two, Ella Ramsay was beaten by South Africa's Aimee Canny, with the South African touching in 1:06.68 and Ramsay 1:06.99.
The next heat had Australia's Sienna Toohey in action, and the 17-year-old was too good for her rivals, winning the heat in 1:07.30.
In fact, Toohey was also too good for her swim cap, which came off halfway through the race and ended cup stuck next to the lane rope!
A rather sheepish Toohey jumped back in after the race was run, to go over and pick up the offending cap. At least the lane rope stayed put, unlike on day one!

Diamonds more than double their opponent's score

Australia is proving too strong for the Tongan netballers at the halfway point of their match, with our side's experience and speed reflected in the widening gap between scores.
The Tala is putting up a good fight defensively, but our shooters are just too quick — GA Kiera Austin and GS Sophie Garbin have been working together like a well-oiled machine, rotating in and out of the goal circle to free up space closer to the post.
We're leading by more than double (almost triple!) at the end of the second quarter, 52-19.
Can you believe this is Garbin's first ever Commonwealth Games?!

Australia's Matt Temple qualifies fastest in the men's 100m butterfly

Well, that completes the trio of Aussies in the men's 100m butterfly.
Matt Temple won the final heat, in a time of 51.30 seconds to top the qualifiers for the semifinals.
He beat Canada's Joshua Liendo - yes, the same man who beat Australia's Cam McEvoy a while ago in the 50m freestyle heats.
Liendo finished in 51.69, qualifying in third behind Temple and England's Edward Mildred. Australia's Ben Armbruster was fourth, and Harrison Turner was sixth.

Aussie Ben Armbruster wins his heat in the 100m butterfly

The second Aussie in action is Ben Armbruster, who is up against swimming legend Chad le Clos of South Africa in his heat.
Le Clos made history on day one, winning a record 19th Commonwealth Games medal as South Africa took bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
Armbruster took care of business in his heat, winning in 51.74 seconds, ahead of Le Clos and England's Jacob Peters who both finished in 52.53.

Harrison Turner has solid swim in the men's 100m butterfly

We're up to the men's 100m butterfly, and Aussie Harrison Turner has been in action in heat three.
Nothing much changed in this one, with England's Edward Mildred leading at half way and going on to stop the clock in 51.62 seconds, ahead of South Africa's Ruard van Renen (52.14) and Turner who was third home in 52.26.

Bruce vs Palavi

The Diamonds couldn't be much heavier favourites in this game, but they aren't messing around.
The players out there – Courtney Bruce, Jo Weston, Jamie-Lee Price, Kate Moloney, Liz Watson, Kiera Austin and Sophie Garbin – is as good a seven as they could possibly play. (Will we see a full rotation in the second half?)
And GK Bruce clearly doesn't need to ease into any sort of contest.
(Getty)The passes under the net have been few and far between for Tonga, but every time the ball makes it down low, Bruce is giving Tongan shooter Uneeq Palavi nightmares.
She reads the game brilliantly and moves better than a woman that tall has any right to.
She's been called for a couple of obstructions that have raised eyebrows too, but every GK knows if you're not toeing the line you're not doing your job.

Australia's Iona Anderson qualifies fastest in the women's 100m backstroke

Never assume anything, they say!
The final heat features Australia's Iona Anderson, and she goes out like an aquatic bat out of hell, putting a gap on her rivals at the 50m mark.
South Africa's Olivia Nel comes through in the second 50, but Anderson touches the wall in 59.86, edging out Canada's Kylie Masse for the fastest time.
Hannah Fredericks is third-fastest, ahead of Nel, and then Scotland's Katie Shanahan.
