Australia's cyclists will look to close their incredibly successful Commonwealth Games with another swag of medals, before the closing ceremony brings the action in Glasgow to a close.

Baker stunned by flag-bearer news after race

(ABC News: Che Chorley)Alyssa Polites was incredibly emotion after winning points race gold ahead of superstar teammate Georgia Baker, and the emotions kept flowing after their interview as Commonwealth Games Australia chef de mission Petria Thomas broke some exciting news to Baker.
The 31-year-old, who has won two golds, a silver and a bronze at these Games, will carry the flag into tonight's opening ceremony.
(ABC News: Che Chorley)Baker was shocked by the news and she, Thomas, Polites and everyone else in the vicinity was just beaming in the warm-up area in the middle of the velodrome.
"Her performances on the track have been outstanding and you can see from the way her teammates reacted how respected she is within this group of cyclists, so I think we made a good choice there," Thomas said.
"It was such a surprise she just hadn't even thought that might occur. It's amazing to be able to deliver that type of news. I think we were all a bit emotional."

Track cycling: On to the women's Keiren second round

Kristina Clonan is the lone Aussie in the first heat, and then Alessia McCaig and Liliya Tatarinoff are in the second heat.
Top three in each heat make it through to the final.
Clonan got a little bit stuck in the quagmire for a section of her race, but she still manages to sneak through in third place. She will race in the final.
In the second heat, there's good news for McCaig who has qualified in third place, but not so much for Tatarinoff who couldn't get going and finished sixth of six.
Two Aussies out of three into the women's Keiren final.

Baker to carry flag at closing ceremony

Tasmanian cyclist Georgia Baker will lead Team Australia into the closing ceremony after a stellar Commonwealth Games.
Baker won four medals at the Games: bronze in the 25km points race, silver in the elimination final, gold in the 4000m Team Pursuit and gold in the 10km scratch race.
Her victory in the scratch race was her fifth Commonwealth Games gold medal — equalling the record for the most golds won by an Australian cyclist.

Track cycling: Riding for bronze in men's C1-C3 3,000m individual pursuit

Australia's Gordon Allan is up against New Zealand's Devon Briggs.
These two riders come under different categories (Allan is a C2, Briggs a C3), so they are unable to race head-to-head. So this is a time trial effectively.
Unfortunately for Allan, he is pretty comprehensively beaten by Briggs who takes the bronze. Nearly a four second adjusted difference between them.

Podium alert: the oldest ever medalist

(Getty Images)Serena Bonnell and Louise Hoskin defeated New Zealand in straight sets to win the women’s para pairs bowls earlier today.
In case you missed it, Bonnell pulled off a wonder bowl to claim the gold.
At 76-years-old, Louise Hoskin is the oldest ever Commonwealth gold medalist — in fact, she's the oldest medalist of any colour, but why not go and get a gold.

Two more medals for Australia! Georgia Baker and Alyssa Polites were joined by Maggie Coles-Lyster in the final three, and it broke open very quickly once that last three emerged.
Coles-Lyster was left behind, and Polites enjoyed a victory lap in the end having torched Baker as well.
It's gold for Alyssa Polites and silver for Georgia Baker. Racking them up!

All three cracked the top 10, and for a brief moment they had formed a kind of all-Aussie alliance at the front of the pack, but Sophie Edwards did eventually fall away and has finished ninth in this final.

Netball: Kiwis thrilled to do their fans proud

New Zealand's netball team claimed its first Commonwealth Games gold in 16 years tonight, and Kate Heffernan says encouragement from fans made all the difference.

"I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this team."
Heffernan is really grateful to be "playing with so many incredible athletes" — all of whom were spurred on by cheers from a special "little pocket of black" (fans dressed in Silver Ferns merch, waving NZ flags) in The Hydro crowd tonight.

Jamaica's Sunshine Girls gave it their all, but the Kiwi side has proven too strong on the netball court tonight.
New Zealand's Silver Ferns have made good on their promise (after coming second at the 2022 Commonwealth Games), and will walk away with the gold medal they promised to claim in Glasgow.
The Kiwis are proudly flying their flag as they celebrate with plenty of hugs and cheers, what a win for our nation's neighbours!
Tonight's final score is 56-48.

There's plenty of thrills and spills happening at The Hydro tonight (anyone who loves this game will tell you, netball often looks more like contact sport).
Jamaica has seen 47 contact penalties so far, and New Zealand has been pulled up for 56 of them — but it seems to all be in good faith.
Jamaican Shamera Sterling-Humphrey reached across and almost took off her Kiwi opponent's nose earlier, but quickly checked she was alright and gave her a hug.
The New Zealand Silver Ferns are pulling ahead as the final minutes play out in Glasgow, the score is 51-43.

I've never been so jealous of another person's height — despite strong (and tall!) defenders in each goal third, shooters on both sides make catching those lobs look easy!
New Zealand has been shooting with more accuracy than Jamaica, but the Sunshine Girls are up in the air fighting for every rebound off that goalpost.

The Sunshine Girls are doing Jamaica proud at The Hydro, clawing their way back in the second quarter.
After losing the first quarter by three points, they drew in the second (equalling NZ's 12 goals that quarter).
New Zealand will be feeling the pressure as they look to improve their silver outcome from 2022, but you wouldn't know it looking at their shooters — the Silver Ferns have made every goal they've attempted, bar one, so far tonight.
By the netball final's halfway point, the Kiwis are leading 28-25.
