Kenneth Massey, 53, lost his life Friday morning after a collision involving his pickup truck and a semi-truck in east Lubbock.
Lubbock police responded to the crash at approximately 7:18 a.m. on September 11 at East 34th Street and the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard access road.
According to investigators, Massey was driving north in the 3400 block of the MLK Jr. Boulevard access road before stopping at a stop sign at East 34th Street. A tractor-trailer traveling east on East 34th Street then collided with the pickup.
Massey was the only person in the pickup and was ejected during the collision. Emergency responders found him at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
The semi-truck was driven by 29-year-old Dameon Marmolejo, who was not injured in the crash.
Police have not released a final determination on what caused the collision or whether other factors contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
