Juventus have taken another major step in their pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr after reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Senegal international.
The Turin giants have moved quickly to secure an understanding with Sarr and his representatives as they look to bring the midfielder to Serie A.
Negotiations with Tottenham are still ongoing. Juventus are proposing a loan deal with an option to buy, while Spurs are pushing for an obligation to buy to be included in the agreement.
Tottenham’s preferred structure would reportedly make the purchase obligation dependent on Sarr reaching a certain number of appearances during his loan spell. This would give Spurs greater certainty over a permanent transfer while allowing Juventus to structure the deal around performance-related conditions.
Salary arrangements are also part of the ongoing discussions between the clubs.
Juventus have reportedly moved ahead of several other clubs interested in the 23-year-old. Monaco, Beşiktaş and clubs from England have all been linked with Sarr, but Juventus are now considered to be in the strongest position.
The midfielder remains under contract with Tottenham, meaning the London club will have the final say on the transfer structure. Juventus are expected to continue talks with Spurs in an effort to reach an agreement.
