JAMB, WAEC Introduce ₦4,000 One-Off Fee for WASSCE Verification

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have introduced a new system that allows candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify their WASSCE O’Level results for a one-off fee of ₦4,000. The new arrangement is designed to reduce the financial burden and administrative stress faced by admission seekers who previously could be required to verify their academic results multiple times during the admission process. Under the new system, candidates whose admissions are regulated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results once through the JAMB Verification Service platform. Once the verification is completed, the result will be made available to the relevant tertiary institution for admission screening and other administrative purposes. JAMB and WAEC clarified that the ₦4,000 payment is to be made only once and directly through the specified JAMB verification platform. Candidates are not expected to pay individual institutions additional verification fees for the same result. The two bodies also directed tertiary institutions to use the verified results provided through JAMB for admission processing. The initiative is expected to make the admission process more convenient by allowing candidates to complete verification remotely from home or another location with internet access.
