FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, is set to leave the role in the coming days, according to the UK Times.

This follows his failed plot to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors.

Infantino could have profited from the “FIFA Forward Enterprise” scheme, which was roundly opposed by other governing bodies.

Although the 56-year-old is desperate to continue in the role, support for him is slowing ebbing away.

A source claimed Infantino is a “dead duck”, with his opponents already lining up candidates as his successor.

The English FA and UEFA, European football’s governing body, also made it clear that they had lost confidence in Infantino.
