Ashtain Noel Davis, a 28-year-old man from Petersburg, Virginia, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on a Richmond interstate ramp late Friday night, according to reporting by WTVR CBS 6 citing Virginia State Police.
The collision occurred between approximately 11:20 p.m. and 11:27 p.m. on the ramp connecting westbound Interstate 64 to southbound Interstate 95. Davis was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a dark-colored SUV struck him.
The impact threw Davis from his motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, but he died at the scene, police said. The driver of the SUV reportedly left without stopping.
Investigators believe the SUV might also have struck a Toyota Camry before fleeing. Based on witness accounts and debris recovered from the roadway, Virginia State Police believe the vehicle could be a dark blue or black Jeep Cherokee or Jeep Compass manufactured between 2014 and 2019.
The SUV might have minor damage to its front and rear ends and a missing mirror. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the vehicle or its driver to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Virginia State Police Division 1 dispatch at 804-750-8758, dial #77 from a mobile phone, or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov. The investigation remains ongoing.
