On a May afternoon in Kobe, three fifth-graders were heading out to play after school when they came across an elderly woman who had grown dizzy and collapsed on the sidewalk.
The woman, in her 70s, was bleeding from a cut on her right cheek, unresponsive, and convulsing. With no adults in sight and seconds ticking away, 11-year-old Yuito Kuroishi pulled out his smartphone and spoke a simple voice command:
“Hey Siri, call emergency services.”
