🚍 GetDirection Launches Nationwide to Help Nigerians Navigate Public Transport One Real Route at a Time

Getting around Nigeria by public transport often means asking strangers for directions, guessing which bus or keke to take, and hoping the fare you are quoted is reasonable.

GetDirection is aiming to change that.

Built by TECH BROS, GetDirection is a community-powered platform that shows passengers how people actually travel from one location to another using public transportation.

Instead of simply displaying a straight line between two destinations, the platform provides step-by-step routes showing which bus, keke or okada to take, where to change vehicles and the estimated cost of each part of the journey.

The information comes from real passengers. Other members of the community can confirm routes or flag information that is inaccurate or outdated, helping improve the reliability of the platform over time.

Key features include:

  • 🚍 Leg-by-leg public transport directions
  • πŸ’° Community-sourced fare estimates
  • βœ… Route verification and reporting
  • πŸ€– AI assistant with text, voice and landmark photo support
  • πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ Nationwide coverage
  • πŸ† Community contributor leaderboard

GetDirection is also moving beyond city transportation.

The platform is now expanding into university campuses, with FUNAAB serving as the first campus rollout. Students can use it to find routes between hostels, lecture halls, faculties and campus gates, as well as directions between the university and surrounding communities.

The campus experience does not require users to sign up, making it easier for students to search for routes and contribute useful information.

More Nigerian universities are expected to follow as the platform expands.

The team behind GetDirection says its goal is to build a layer of transportation knowledge based on the experiences of people who have actually made the journey.

Visit GetDirection to search for a route, contribute one or try the AI assistant.
