At least two people were confirmed dead and a third feared dead early Wednesday, after an explosion caused a shopping mall in Kumamoto Prefecture to collapse following a massive earthquake a day earlier.

The two confirmed deaths were both women in their 20s

These were among the eight people who have been discovered in the wreckage of the mall in the town of Kashima, NHK reported. Five others were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
