🩵 Enzo Maresca on Manchester City’s midfield options:
“If you want to be there competing, you need options.”
Maresca believes squad depth is essential for any team that wants to compete consistently at the highest level. With a long season involving different competitions, managers need quality alternatives across the squad to deal with injuries, suspensions, fatigue and tactical changes. ⏱️
He also made it clear that Chelsea are not the only club building significant depth:
“Arsenal have options, we have options, more teams have options. Not just us!”
Maresca then expressed his satisfaction with the players available to him:
“I’m very happy with the options we have.” 🔝
His message is simple: competition for places can only strengthen a squad, giving the manager more tactical flexibility and keeping players fighting for their starting positions.
