Some moments arrive without warning and leave behind a silence that words cannot fully fill. Today, we remember Edwin Lynch, 74, of Willard, Ohio, whose life came to an end following a serious crash in Huron County.

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at the intersection of State Route 61 and State Route 103 in New Haven Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Lynch was driving a 2018 Toyota Tundra eastbound on State Route 103 when the pickup truck failed to stop at a posted stop sign at State Route 61, according to the preliminary investigation. The Toyota then collided with a northbound 2025 Mack Pinnacle semi-truck driven by 35-year-old Eric Smith of Mansfield.

Lynch suffered serious injuries in the collision and was flown to Cleveland MetroHealth for treatment. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday, September 20, four days after the crash.

Smith was not injured. Authorities reported that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The intersection was temporarily closed while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The Huron County Sheriff's Office, Willard Fire Department, North Central EMS, Cleveland MetroHealth Life Flight and White's Towing assisted with the response.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post continues to investigate the crash.

Edwin Lynch is remembered as a member of the Willard community whose life came to an unexpected end following the September 16 collision.
