🚨 Ecuador have appointed Marcelo Gallardo as their new head coach. 🇪🇨
The Ecuadorian Football Federation confirmed the appointment after Sebastián Beccacece’s contract was not renewed following Ecuador’s elimination from the World Cup round of 32 in June.
Gallardo, 50, returns to international management after most recently working with River Plate. He is widely regarded as one of South America’s most successful modern coaches, having guided River Plate to two Copa Libertadores titles during his previous spells in charge.
The Argentine manager has also coached Nacional in Uruguay and Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
Ecuador are now looking toward a new chapter under Gallardo, with the federation expressing confidence in his experience and ability to develop the country’s talented squad.
His first scheduled challenge will be a friendly against South Korea on September 24, giving Gallardo an early opportunity to assess his players and begin implementing his ideas.
The appointment gives Ecuador a manager with major continental experience as they prepare for the next stage of their international football journey.
