A young girl has been taken to hospital after she was attacked by a dog inside a Bunnings outlet in regional Victoria.
Emergency services were called to the Bunnings store in Delacombe, near Ballarat, yesterday at 11.10am.
Advanced life support paramedics treated the child, who was taken to Ballarat Base Hospital in a stable condition.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the child suffered "a lower body injury".
The City of Ballarat said the dog has since been euthanised.
"The dog was voluntarily surrendered by its owners for euthanasia, which took place on Wednesday afternoon," City of Ballarat director of development and growth Natalie Robertson said.
"The City of Ballarat will conduct a thorough investigation and is unable to comment further while that process is underway."
A Bunnings spokesperson said their thoughts were with the young girl and her family.
"We understand the child was bitten by a dog and was treated by emergency services before being taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment," the spokesperson said.
"We will support the relevant authorities with their enquiries."
The incident took place inside the Bunnings store.
According to the store's entry information, "well-behaved pets that are on a lead" are permitted inside.
