A heartbreaking tragedy in Athens, Georgia, has claimed the life of 30-year-old Brayan Castro-Delgado, leaving family, friends, and loved ones facing the loss of a life cut short.
According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, officers responded to the area of 600 Old Hull Road at approximately 5:55 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2026.
Investigators determined that Castro-Delgado was driving a black Nissan Frontier eastbound on Old Hull Road when the pickup crossed the centerline, left the roadway, and struck a ditch.
Castro-Delgado exited the damaged pickup and entered the roadway. A white GMC Sierra traveling westbound then struck him.
He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Police have not released information indicating whether the driver of the GMC Sierra was injured or whether any charges have been filed. The circumstances leading to the initial crash remain under investigation.
The crash marks the 10th fatal crash investigated by Athens-Clarke County police in 2026.
