Atalanta are set to welcome Franck Kessié back to the club.
The Ivorian midfielder has agreed to return to Atalanta as a free agent after leaving Al Ahli. The move comes after negotiations with Juventus broke down earlier today.
Kessié is no stranger to Atalanta. He made his name at the club before moving on to AC Milan, where he became an important part of the midfield and helped the Rossoneri win the Serie A title.
He later continued his career in Spain with Barcelona before moving to Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Now, the 29-year-old is heading back to Bergamo.
The deal was completed after Juventus talks collapsed, with Atalanta moving quickly to secure the midfielder. The return is also being driven by director Cristiano Giuntoli, who has played a key role in getting the agreement over the line.
For Atalanta supporters, Kessié’s return brings back a familiar face with plenty of experience at the highest level.
His physical presence, energy and ability to contribute in midfield will give Atalanta another strong option as they prepare for the new season.
Kessié is now expected to complete his return to the club where his European career first took off.
