Arsenal Make Premier League History as Arteta Joins Wenger in 250+ Games Club

Arsenal have become the only club in Premier League history to have two different managers reach the 250-game mark in charge. Mikel Arteta reached the milestone during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa, joining legendary former manager Arsène Wenger, who managed 828 Premier League games for the Gunners.

Arsenal have reached another remarkable milestone in their Premier League history, with Mikel Arteta becoming the second Gunners manager to oversee at least 250 league matches.

Arteta reached the landmark during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa on August 31, 2026. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the match as Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the new Premier League campaign.

The achievement places Arteta alongside Arsène Wenger as the only two Arsenal managers to reach 250 or more Premier League games at the club.

Wenger remains Arsenal’s record holder, having taken charge of 828 Premier League matches during his legendary 22-year spell at the Emirates and Highbury. He recorded 476 victories and won three Premier League titles, including the historic unbeaten 2003/04 campaign.

Arteta’s numbers at the 250-game mark are also impressive. The Spanish manager has recorded 151 wins, 48 draws and 51 defeats, giving him a 60.4 percent win rate. That places him among the most successful managers to reach 250 Premier League matches at one club.

Arteta also reached the milestone at a younger age than Wenger and has overseen Arsenal’s transformation into regular title challengers since taking over in December 2019.

The Arsenal manager previously described reaching 250 games as something he was "extremely grateful" for, while highlighting the importance of the people around the club and the progress made during his tenure.

The wider Premier League list shows just how significant the achievement is. Arteta is now among an elite group of managers who have managed at least 250 league matches for a single Premier League club, alongside figures such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp and Wenger.

For Arsenal, however, the statistic carries extra significance.

No other Premier League club has had two different managers reach the 250-game milestone at the same club. Wenger established one of the longest managerial reigns in English football, while Arteta is now building his own chapter in Arsenal history.

With Arteta still in charge and continuing to add to his tally, the gap between his 250 games and Wenger's extraordinary 828-match record remains enormous. But reaching the milestone puts Arteta in rare company and further underlines the length and stability of his tenure at Arsenal.
